17-12-2020 Southern China

On December 4, 5,100 catties of rice was purchased for poverty alleviation in the Liyujiang Project, including 4,330 catties as the union’s benefits distributed to each employee, and the rest subscribed by employees in response to the poverty alleviation initiative through consumption.

The rice purchased for poverty alleviation is an organic, pollution-free variety planted by Liantang Village, Guidong County, the designated poverty alleviation site of the Liyujiang Project. This move not only helped the local village committee address the problem of unsalable agricultural products, but also indirectly solved the problem of the villagers’ payment of rents for the converted fields.

Up to now, the Liyujiang Project has purchased agricultural products worth at nearly RMB 160,000 for poverty alleviation.
